Derestrictor Box? You mean like a power commander?

R6's carbed or not are drag limited. Meaning they don't make enough power to go faster than a certain speed.

There are ways to make them go faster, but it takes some work and attacking the problem from several sides.

First you want you bike to make more power, this generally includes but is not limited to a freer flowing air filter, an exhaust system and a good matching jet-kit. If done correctly this should put you at about a 15% increase in power. So a stock '02 made 96 hp, a messaged one can easily make 110.

Next comes eliminating top end waste. A stock R6 topped out at about 150mph. Which in 6th gear was a tick over 13k. Last time I checked mine spins to 16k when it wants to. So that's 3,000 rpm you never get to use. If you drop your gearing some you'll get to tap into that top end and go faster then before.

Restrictor box? do you mean to advance the ignition/retard the ignition or what.
I've got a '99 and it's in no way restricted - unless some how you bought a 33bhp version if you are young in which case there should just be washers in the carbs restricting the flow.

clarification would be good.

from what im told the early r6 has the resticted cdi unit same as gsxr 100 etc softens the power in 2nd and 3rd gear?,and you can buy a little black box that plugs to your cdi to overcome this,im running a k&n full hindle system and bike has been dynoed and jetted to suit!2000 r6 btw

In order to setup any kind of restriction in only 1st and 2nd you would need a newer F.I. style bike that has more teeth on the cam inducer and would need a trans position sensor. Neither of which your bike has.

So whoever told you that fed you a nice juicey one
