I put a Hindle Ti-slip on my bike and it backfires and looses power. Hindles don't come w/new gaskets should i just silicone the pipe or get a power commander? It's louder now and I can't hear if it has an exhaust leak. any help would be greatly appreceiated.

Your bike is just running lean right now....they run lean from the factory to meet emmissions but you have just made it a little worse (nothing too bad) and opened the exhaust so you can hear it. Getting it remapped will subdue the popping but usually doesn't eliminate it completely...all aftermarket pipes do this.

No, your stock ECM can be altered to compensate...it does take a VERY knowledgeable dealer to know about this though. Try to find someone in your area who is factory supported racing and they can do it (preferably in superstock class).

really?, where do I even look to find a "factory" racing dealer? I work at a Yamaha dealership as it is now?

I got an Arata FULL pipe and header combo for my 04' and it had a surging idle and backfired EVERY time I engine braked . Did +3 mod and now my 04 is stonger and runs fine :D

Devious, glad to hear that it worked out for you. But with a full system consider the #29 mod to be a bandaid...you really need a PCIII with a full system.

I know that with a PC III I can get new ignition curves but for now I'm just happy with the extra 250 bucks in pocket :D Maybe later someone will figure out better timing maps for the #29 fix and I could go a little longer
