A buddy of mine says that his 97 Vmax would be me in a 1/4 mile race. Is this true. The guy praises his Vmax like you wouldn't believe. How are they.

With all that torque and a long wheel base, not to mention being heavy as a fat chick on protein supps it may be likely, but only in a striaght line.
Hit a corner and it's all over.

Best bet is to race him and see if he's all mouth. Let us know how you get on!

If you are just doing a drag race.... you've got your work cut out for you. V-maxs aren't slow. As said before, with all that torque you need to watch out.

top gear roll on 60mph-80mph 3.69sec

'03 R6 HP- 105.4hp@12750rpm Torque- 44.7ft-lbs@11750 Wt-415
1/4mile 11.01sec@125.3mph
top gear roll on 60mph-80mph 4.46sec

'04 R1 HP- 158.3hp@12500rpm Torque- 74.0ft-lbs@10000 Wt-449
1/4mile 10.07sec@145.3mph
top gear roll on 60mph-80mph 2.75sec

That was some fine searching right there. I had a quick look but couldn't waste too much more time at work - tax payers don't appreciate it!
Quite surprised that off the line the R6 wins but I guess this is yet more proof of how f#cking sweet they are.

Now, rock up next to one at the lights, give the bastad a nod and show him your end can!
