Out of japan, bone stock, they will top out at 163.

What you are seeing is your Speedometer speed. Which above about 80mph isnt worth the lead and powder to blow it up. If you want to know your REAL speed, get a GPS that will indicate your speed. I do not have one personally, because I will ride as fast as I feel and don't worry about numbers.

I have had mine up to an indicated speed of 173. But, I am sure it was realistically about 160. Once I pass 150, I really cannot tell until I get to about 200. And yer R6 (or mine) isn't going to see that speed without some heavy mods and gear changes.

Japanese motorcycles produce their speedometers to european standards which mean they can be up to 10% off...american standards are only 2% deviation. This means (at a worst case senerio) if you saw 167 you could have been going as slow as 151. Usually the R6 has an error of 8% though wich puts you around 155 wich is still FAST.

Oh, and as a side note...NO 600cc bike has ever broke the 200mph barrier, not even megabux richy poo owners have dumped enough money in a naturally asperated 600cc to break 200mph. I do believe the 600cc MPH record is something like 186mph...could be wrong though.

Yeah, no R6 or 600cc for that matter is doing 200. If you want a zx12r or busa to do it, you need at least a couple mods. Not sure what the top speed is, cause dyezak is right... the speedo is off, but you're lucky to get 180 or 185 on the 04 model. Ive only been to 158 on mine ('02) what about you dyezak??? what's your personal best??

Bacardi...the 6'3" is hurting your top speed more than the 200lbs part. I'm sure there's some horrible areo going on with those huge legs and stuff

LOL its actually not too bad, i know alot of guys in the 6'-6'3" range, a few even race weekely at the track. I have just always hated the wide, clumbsy, feel of most of the other bikes Hint Hint GSXR'S

I have a 2002 R6 and it was bone stock at the time. I was coming down a pretty big hill and had my speedo reading 170mph. Like everyone else said it probobly wasnt right but it was still a rush to see it read that.
