Hey guys i was riding in my friends cage a couple weeks back n he got pulled over for me not wearing a seatbelt (passenger)...... i was cited because i was the passenger and was told that the ticket would not be a moving violation for me.......... so a couple weeks later i get in the mail a notification to pay 85 bucks and i am eligible for traffic school...... i did some research and not having a seat belt on is not a elgible traffic school violation......... does this mean i will be docked a point on my record for something that was told to me as a nonmoving violation and especially since i was not even driving at the time........ if not what should i do : contest it and find out how come i have to pay so much or pay the fine and hope that it doesn't affect my driving record........ thanks in advance...... n yea r6's kick ass ! ! !

It all depends on what the laws are in the area you live in. Technically you can't be pulled over simply for not wearing a seatbelt. It has to be something else (moving violation) like speeding, or failure to stop, etc. Most states also have stipulation depending on what the ages are of the driver and the passenger. Look up the laws for your area, and if need be, fight that crap. 85 bucks is more than enough to at least question it. LoL And most times, when you fight something like that (that seems fishy to begin with) the cop won't fight back. At least I wouldn't, and my roommates wouldn't and we're cops.
In the end, it's your decision, but if you do the right research, you should have a good idea whether you'll win or not. good luck !!

They started a new program in colorado where they can pull you over for not wearing a seat belt. I always wear mine, just like my brain bucket.

It's national...you can be pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt. If you have the option of traffic school because the police mistakenly gave you that option, TAKE IT. Make out like a bandit.
