i am trying to do some trouble shooting, recently, on my R6, ive started hearing a weird sucking noise from the top/carborator section, so now the bike is stripped and i can tell its not the valves, the engine is quiet but with every stroke the engine makes a sucking noise, sounds like it is comeing from one of the carbourators but i cannot see where, all the clamps are tight around the intake robber things and there are no hoses cracked or off, has amyone herd of this be4? is there anything common on the R6 that goes to cause this? if you know anything about this please tell me because im lost.

P.s are any of the memeber even active on this site, this has been posted for over a week and no1 is helping

Hi and welcome !

Well, It seems you have covered the most obvious things.
It sounds like a simple case of something being a little loose and you have done everything correct in trying to find it..

One other thing. Did you check the air box is sitting on the air filter perfectly. The air filter can get a be loosely fitted.
Basically, check the integrity of the air box, filter and rubber as a whole.

It certainly doesnt sound serious but it may have a smal impact on overall performance. Sounds very frustrating.

Hopefully , somebody will pop up who has experienced this same thing...

Hey all.

Don't know if this issue has been resolved or not. But here is something to try.

Sometimes if you have a cracked boot or hose you can hear the sucking noise. They can be difficult if not impossible to track down with the naked eye. SO, here is a simple way to find it.

Set your idle up to about 2000rpms. Take a can of carb cleaner and spray small sections of connections and boots. If the bike bogs down then pick up again, you have found the location of your leak. When the carb cleaner gets sucked in through the leak and into the engine, it will bog it because the carb cleaner does not burn as well as the gasoline it like to burn. This is also harmless to your engine.

If there is no leak, it cannot get sucked in. Pretty simple. Then go searching of other problems.

Just a simple trick I learned may years ago working on my carbed bikes. Looks sealed and is sealed are two totally different things. :-)
