How do you add engine coolant to the tank. I have a 2001 R6. This is probably a dumb question.

If it's anything like my 2002, I just remove the ram air cover on the right side, disconnect the rubber portion of the ram air tube from the plastic portion and fold it out of the way. Unscrew the radiator cap (located below the ram air tube) and use a funnel (to prevent spillage) and whala! You fill your tank! :D

My tank is on the left side. But I'm sure it's the same way, just on the opposite side.
Is there any special coolant needed or can I use the same that goes into a car.

I cant see why you couldnt use regular coolant, but to be on the safe side, just call any dealer and ask them to make sure.

Your overflow tank is on the left side, just like badboys '02. Badboy is saying to fill the rad you do it directly at the radiator filler, which is on the right side just below the ram airtube. There is cap that you need to push down and turn just like on the rad of a car.

As far as type of coolant, the r6 shipps with regular mixed ethyl/glycol. Good ol' green prestone/quaker state whatever you prefer. I would highly recommend using an additive like Water Wetter (http://www.redlineoil.com/products_coolant.asp). It doesn't effect the freeze point and you will notice a difference in how hot the bike gets, or I should say doesn't get.

I use Cyclelogic's Engine Ice coolant, it's a bio-friendly propylen glycol instead of the toxic ethlyene glycol and it's a pretty purple instead of that stomach acid green.
