: Upper Fairing Stay Bracket Question

Hello All,

I just bought a '00 R6 but the it has a busted upper fairing bracket. I have asked a few buddies who own R6's and they say that the upper fairing bracket almost always breaks in the same spot (right where it bolts onto the frame). I want to get it replaced because when i ride at high speeds and hit bumps, I notice some minor turbulence in the front assembly, but my question is, are there any after market replacement brackets which aren't going to break? i mean, I don't want to buy a new bracket off ebay for $189 and have it bust again in a month or two.

Please let me know if anyone here has had there bracket break, and/or if anyone has one for sale or knows where I can get a better quality bracket.

Thanks in advance,
Glenn

I've taken mine to a machine shop before and had it welded back together. It cost me an hour of machine work ($55) but that was cheaper then a new one.

Or you could try J.B.Weld from an autoparts store. It's kind of like epoxy for metal. Build up a bunch of it and drill new holes for the mounting bolts.

The only aftermarket units are designed for use with track plastic and don't have any holes to attach the lights.

thanks for the reply. i had it welded on friday and put the bike back together same day. It only cost me $39 too, much cheaper than a new one. :)
