Just got a used blue 03 Yamaha R6 about a week ago and am having a blast. She has about 6500 miles. Anyway, I'm a brand new biker. I do all my own car work and will treat the R6 no different. Since the previous owner didn't seem to know much about service I'm going to go ahead and change a few things. Few questions.

1) Air filter. I've done a little searching and have come to the conclusion to stay away from K&N. Is BMC worth the price or would I be better off staying with stock?

2) Oil change. What oil filters would you recommend going with. With oil looks like theres conflicting opinions whether to go synthetic or dino oil. I always use synthetic on my car but someone mentioned that the R6's wet clutch does not mesh well with synthetic.

3) What brand spark plugs and wires does everyone use?

Any other maintenance tips / advice would be much appreciated. Thanks for any help!

As for the oil, I run regular dead dinosaur Yamalube. And a yamaha filter. I replace my oil every 2k, and filter every other oil change.

I run Factory ngk plugs and I've never replaced the wires.

As far as the K&N, I've never had any probs with mine.
