Gotta tell ya man becareful with taht thing, I had an 04, and at 23k miles the motor blew apart. The oil pump failed, that caused all valves to burn, warped the heads, deformed the main crank, snapped 2 connecting rods, rings were shot, just the entire thing. They ended up putting a new subaru shortblock motor in there, with a new turbo and intercooler finding that was on the fritz as well not putting out the right psi. 4 weeks later they finally fixed it and gave it back to me. Overall I didnt have much luck with the car, the alianment was shot at 10k miles and it wasnt even driven hard, and just lots of little other things.

BUT, on the other hand, it usally tooled most other cars on the rd. Really easily. Always a head turner, and if you got some money to throw around with it, go buy a new UTEC ECU for it. It costs about 1000 bucks but its plug and play, there is no wireing, and you will get HUGE power gains and performance from your car. They sell stage upgrade kits and you can take the sti to soemwhere right around 425hp without modding the internals of the engine. Check most of it out at www.turboxs.com

Otherwise man that car is way sweet, awsome power, and really fast. Wish you could hit 60 in 2nd gear but what is 1 to do. The only cars i couldnt take was a Cobra Mustang, and Corvette....I stayed with the mustang, but the corvette SMOKED me like i wasnt even there and not a doubt in my mind the other guy was laughing at me. I didnt think i had a chance to begin with but still had to try. Good luck with it, and if you need any tips or advice i have lots of stuff i tried that worked and didnt work from cleaning, to tuneing. Also lots of good forums for them too, let me know

I think the problem is when people start modding them up.
Its difficult to resist the temptation and I am certainly not against it but you do leave yourself open to future trouble.

Standard, they will be reliable enough. Suburu generally have an incredible reputation for customer satisfaction.

They were incredibly ugly cars but the last version is heaps better.

that's the problem with everything....you mod it and there are problems. you have to pay to play.

Nice car. Bit of a pig to insure here in the UK. Im ancient (No 'no claims' as having a company car since the ice age) and was quoted £2k per year on a car worth £6k :?

No thanks Mr Insurance Company!
