About to get 2000 R6 for $3500 with some scratchs but nothing bad. What do you think. Also there seems to be a very small amount of play in the steering stem when braking. Anyone else know what I am talking about. Should I do it? Thanks anyone.
Where/who are you getting this bike from? Have you seen it and test driven it?

I did test ride it today and eveything feels ok but when I brake there seems to be a very very small amount of play in the steering stem. I don't think it would be a problem but at the track it might prove to be something after all. That seems to be the only thing. Feels strong and starts with no problems. Just needs some TLC. I live in Tampa
Hmm, sounds good enough. I don't know about the steering issue, so you might want to get someone else's opinion on that. I'm just surprised at the price, it seems like a very good deal!

What kind of mileage does this thing have?
Chances are the steering head bearings are done. If nothing else they probably need re-packing. If you stand the bike up and hold the front brake then push down and pull up on the bars does it clunk?
If so your bearings need addressed. It's something you can do yourself if you have a way to support the bike and remove the forks. If not let a shop tackle his.
Steering head bearings usually get a lot of abuse from landing wheelies hard. Which a bike in fla I'm going out on a limb here but I'm thinking that bike's seen some wheelies.
