Hi!
I'm looking for a bike, and i'm keen on getting a R6.. I've been riding MX, but never had a street bike... Do you guys think it will be too "unsafe" for me to get a R6???

Unsafe? Depends..are you unsafe when you ride? My R6 was (is) my first bike. It was (is) a great choice. I have had my bike for a cupl of months (1,100 miles) and have never felt that the bike was unsafe...The bike has more than enough power for me, I love being able to attack curves, & the bike is DAMN SEXY!

An r6 is only as safe or dangerous as your right hand allows.

I agree, I think it would be an awesome first bike for somebody that has a little self control. If you do not fall into that category, then it could be unsafe.
thanks alot for your replies! If the insurance isn't too expensive, i will get an R6 then :-)

If insurance is too steep....look into a SV650S.......excellent first bike and you will not "grow out of it" too soon at all. They are great bikes and have really good insurance rates. Just a suggestion.
I got an insurance quote yesterday, and it will be about $410 a year (the minimum insurance you need) - full coverage will cost me $1600 a year
So if i buy an R6, i will probably only go with the minimum required insurance..
I have been looking at the Suzuki SV650, and that would also be my second choice if i didn't go for the R6... But i still like the R6 more

How much does it freak you out that if you crash your bike and it's your fault.. say bye bye to your nice new r6. Payments keep comming. I would wait, save up the cash for full insurance . Thats just me though.
I probably spend too much time thinking of what could go wrong. It's costs me 2400 canadian for full insurance. 800 for minimum.
