ok so I had a 2001 trans am, it has some problems minor. I sold it back to carmax for 15,500. I want buy a 2005 r6, and in VA this is then last one in my general location. I have never ridden a sportbike or motorcycle. I have only ridden 4 wheelers, and pro go karts. So I mean how long do I have to live when I get the bike, and I cant get anything else because my parents said that I have to keep what i get till i move out. I just turned 18. Im pretty good at not giving in to temptation. thanks for the advice dont sugar coat it. thanks guys/girls

My personal opinion is buy something with less power first. The best way to learn how to ride is on a dirt bike. Get the fundamentals down like shifting balance at low speed etc. Learning on dirt in a controlled environment is much easier and safer than just hopping on a capable streetbike. But if you do buy the R6 just control your right wrist. And remember you might be able to handle the bike but you can't control traffic so watch your back. People seem to "not see" bikes.

id say go for it, the r6 is tame when you want it to be, but if you want to go, hang on tight. its a great bike, handles well easily controllable. the faster you go, the better it handles. youll like it but remember, the R6 is on loan to you from god and he can take it away at any time he likes

i just got my first bike and i got the 06 R6 and it is so easy i have only stalled it twice just got on the HW today for the first time with 20mph wind with no problem so I would have to say go for it don’t go small just get what you want it will only go as fast as you want it
