I have now got my 05 R6 handling sorted.
after trying a number of sizes i have a 2mm spacer fitted at the top of the rear shock to raise the rear ride height and fitted an Ohlins steering damper and have left the suspension settings as standard.
Before the balance of the bike felt bias to the rear and the front end nervous over bumps. Now it feels neutral and the damper gives total confidence over bumps.
if you have an 03/04 R6 and are thinking of a new bike the 05 is a big improvement especialy the forks.

I got my new 05 R6 a month and a half ago, and have been really annoyed with the throttle response....I use to ride a 2003 which was 100 times smoother. I do a bit of city riding and it seems impossible to have a relatively smooth ride, especially in second gear.... do you experience a similar problem? Any settings I could look at? Any other advice?

The throttle snatch at about 4-7000 revs is terrible , my 2003 model was only slightly better. i was thinking of getting the throttle position sensors checked.
I try to accelerate into the corner rather than braking up to the apex then accelerating which helps settle it.
if you find a cure let me know

I forgot to mention that running the bike on Super Unleaded 98 Octane helped
