I have a quick question and would love some help if you guys could. I just bought an 02 R6 with slight mods, which is also my first bike. it came with an M$ carbon fiber muffler, but i was just wondering how do you tell if it is a full pipe or just slip on? i know the muffler is up higher then the stock location, it way up next to the passenger seat. Also, do you guys know if an 02 is fuel injected or carbed?
Thank,
Matt

definatly at least a slip on, since its a high mount, as far as full exhaust you need to take the front of the body off and look for a stamp of the company in the headers somewhere, if its yamaha or if its someone else's, and the 02's are carbed

Of course it has at least a slip-on, it has an M4 pipe.
Anyway, you can tell on the header pipe if the pieps are welded, they are probably factory. Most aftermarket headers come slip fit with springs to hold it together. Second, you can usually tell if you look right under the right foot peg, on the factory header pipe there was a little metal strap that connected to the bolt at the bottom of the frame. On aftermarket pipes they also never attach to that mounting point, so if you see a hole that looks like something used to be attached then you probably have aftermarket. Third, the original pipes had crossovers between 1-2 and 3-4 that could be seen through the V behind the front wheel.
So only step 1 requires taking plastic off.
'02 were carbs and you'll need to pull the tank to find out if the bike was jetted. The tell-tale sign is when you pull the carbs if you can get to the adjusting screws on the back of the carbs then they were probably jetted. You drill the little cap to get to the adjusting screw when you install a jet kit so you can alter the mixture.
