Hey everyone, I'm wondering how many female sportbike riders there are that look at this forum. It would be cool if all you female riders told everyone here about how old you are, what kind of bike you ride (hopefully an R6, since you're on this website), and when and why you started riding. I'm wondering how many females there really are in the sportbike community!

I started riding 2 years ago! I love it! I have always loved speed!

i'm 24 and i've been riding for 10 months now. i love my R6, and let me tell ya, being a female on a sportbike certainly has its advantages... :-)

What do you mean "it has it advantages". Just curious?

let me just say that i have never gotten so much attention in my life; not a bad thing, it's cool, but i never realized how rare a chick on a bike was :)

:) hehehe I know what you mean, I have several female biker friends and I've seen the attention they get.

This thread is fine just the way it is, keep it modest cmyzfly. We still have to be a gentlemen to our lady bikers.

So here's a question for you guys, would you ride on the back of your girls bike? I know I would have to decline on that offer. I am not at all trying to be sexist or anything, but I just think I would look stupid. What do you guys think?

roninone
03-30-2005, 07:24 PM
hmmm.. would I.. sure why not :), i wonder how's it feel to be the passenger once in a while...

fierohink
03-31-2005, 02:44 AM
As a previous passenger I can definately say "you're not missing anything". But I don't see anyproblem in hopping on the back of a girls bike, as long as she can ride two-up.

imafunkychild
03-31-2005, 12:12 PM
riding on the back isn't as fun as driving... i have to say i've never taken a male passenger, but i have taken my sister. she's about the same size as me so it's not that bad.

NTFireFighter
03-31-2005, 02:18 PM
gotta say i wont be one to ride on the back, i dont mind taking other people for rides but i just couldnt do it

Hey FunkyChild

How was it riding 2up I have had a few girlfriends who would like a ride but I am bit nervous giving them one! I'm not a weakling but don't want to take a chance and not be able to handle the bike and the extra weight!

I am only 5'5" and a lean build

imafunkychild
04-02-2005, 07:23 AM
it's not that bad...totally different feeling tho... makes the bike feel heavy, but as long as you have someone on the back who knows how to ride, you'll be fine. it just makes the bike feel a little top heavy. i have a general rule that i stick to now, i won't take passengers that weigh more than i do. it's harder to control them b/c they affect the bike more than you do being as they weigh more.

Cooper29
04-04-2005, 08:23 AM
Funny, I have the same rule.......no girl that weighs more than me can ride on the back.......good rule to have.

i agree, the only time i have ever let a guy ride on the back was in thailand from songkla to hat yai. one the guys i work with didnt know how to ride and i was on a honda steed with a sissy bar so it was the most comfy. then he asked where he should hold, and i said, eat-sh!t. keep em to yourself, hold the fender i dont care, just not me. i have still never been a passenger and i dont think i would want to, i gotta be in control, i dont even like being a passenger in a car that much.

So how about some inside information on what the chicks like about all of us supper cool sport bike dudes? Is it our rad paint jobs? Loud pipes? Slick jackets? Should I continue with my wheelies for boobies’ campaign? Or should I just get off the bike and have a heart to heart talk?

You could always try treating them with the respect they deserve. Actually, what am I saying I sound like a tampon ad!!!
JOKING!!

It's great to see women riders about and more fun to watch guys faces when they pull off their lid (no jokes!!).
As I'm younger (a wee 22) I am probably more used to seeing chicks on a bikes - I have a couple of female mates who ride - but the older guys always seem to patronise and look down, treating them like kids made of glass as opposed to as bikers. Pretty shitty attitude to have but it happens unfortunately.

Do you guys (ladies) find that the dealers are often negative and patronising over there as they can be here? What sort of reception do you get at meets?

Cooper29

I have no problem letting a girl on a bike pass me, it gives me the perfect opportunity to scope out their ass! If it is nice, I will stay right behind her. If it is not, then I do the old fly-bye.

Hey, looks like I have joined the few female R6 riders on this site...

My name is Cyndi, I'm 27, and yes I own an '05 R6! I started riding about a month ago, and I did it because I am adventurous and love to learn new things, and learning to ride a bike looked like fun! I'm not sure I fullly know what I'm getting myself into with this bike, but I think it will be a great experience!

I'm happy to have found this forum, and hope to learn a lot! I have a few pics in the gallery: http://www.r6.com/forum/modules/gallery/New-Pics

I like the pig tails hanging out of the lid - is that to make life easier on the pillion or for your boyfriend??!!

Why can't we get some girls like you here in Rhode Island??

Tinks
08-09-2005, 10:35 AM
Maybe you guys are put off by me being English, so i will clear up a few things
I'm female, old enough to know better but young enough to act stupid, I'm very very small so I've had my bike lowered slightly.
I'm 5'4" but I weigh about 95 pounds so I cant really take pillions. I've got red hair, green eyes and my teeth are ok! LOL
I've been riding for a couple of years, but only bought my 2001 R6 last month. My previous bike was a Fazer 400, which I binned whilst tracking it. That was an experience!
I use my R6 everyday for commuting through London. I love it because not a week goes by without someone commenting on it, and its so fast through the traffic. I love overtaking all the Porches and Mercedes, and when people try and race me off the lights, I leave them for dust
Nippping up to the front of all the queing traffic faster than the blink of an eye is very rewarding. Since I've had the R6, my commuting time has dropped by 10 minutes!! Which is considerable, considering our traffic hardly moves!
If you are interested, I can post some pics.

Take care

Where abouts are you from? What are roads like round your way?

Tallulah Tinkerbelle

Hello,
I'm in London :?
Roads aren't really that great, cos I'm commuting into the City or to Canary Wharf
Weekends and sunny evenings are spent in the Ace Cafe, Box Hill and various twisty roads around Essex.
Friday nights are spent at Chelsea Bridge!! Woo hoo!! cant beat it - its great. Hundreds of bikes, the most amazing sounds, and the stunt meisters pulling wheelies and stoppies and burnouts whilst in between all the traffic!
The other week an R1 lost it doing a wheelie and went up in flames - had 2 fire engines and had to close the bridge and the road leading to it :D
Great stuff!!
How about yourself?
BTW - thanks for asking - no one else here has said a word - charmin' :P

Hey,

Thanks for getting back - (this is all rather civilised!!) As it says below my screen name I am from good old Norwich so am fortunate not to have worry too much about the pains of commuting. Most people round here still prefer horse and cart.
You've got it pretty sweet being able to spend time around The Ace - never been myself but I understand it's a pretty sweet place to hang about. Always seems to be stuff going on as MCN rubs it in my face. Chelsea Bridge would be pretty cool as well.

the best we have is a series of roundabouts by a business park but we are getting badgered by the police more and more there now. The roads up here aren't too bad but for some serious riding I like to head to my mates near Cambridge - they have some seriously fun roads around there. Proper tyre shredding stuff.
you should head that way one weekend - I'm sure we can put you up for the evening!

Tinks
08-15-2005, 07:54 AM
Ace Cafe? You're not really missing that much to be honest. Yes, its a mecca for all things biking but its a pain in the arse to get to ( off the North Circular), its always swarming with plod ( they do the Bike Safe days out of there - thoroughly recommend doing the course if you have one near you), and the food is rubbish and over priced, but its the history and nostalgia that you go for, I guess :?

I'm with the Fazer club so we sometimes go out and about up in Cambridge - not been for a while tho.
As for Chelsea Bridge? Get yourself down there. It has to be when the weather is really good, then you get hundreds of them there...and if you're really lucky, Ghost turns up on his R1 pulling THE most amazing stunts :D
I'll try and dig out some pics for you :D

burntout
08-15-2005, 08:23 AM
Cheers for the review - I wont make a pilgramage down to Ace quite yet then - although the bridge does sound like a good night out. What's the police presence like? Over zealous?

Speaking of Bike Safe I got offered it the other day after being pulled for passing between cars on the white line. Lucky for me really as he said he could have done me for driving without due care and attention, he was a bike cop though and they always seem much more relaxed. Ended up chatting about my suspension settings in the end!
I hear it's well worth doing - maybe after wheelie school though.

Tinks
08-15-2005, 10:08 AM
Oh yes - its well worth doing.
Bike police are great! Apart from City plod  But the Met boys are great - bikers first, plod second :D There's one I've met through Bike Safe and quite honestly, he's an inspiration! Not only has he got ZX10RR, ZX750, GS1150 ( i think its that one), a traillie of some sort.....but...(drum roll) an MV AGUSTA
And he's always off, travelling the world on of the aforementioned. He did the Enduro India last year  All this is raising money for charity too :D
I think I scare him tho... :?
I'm hoping to do wheelie school this year, but I'm tracking my R6 first :D :D :D
There's not much plod at Chelsea bridge..they know the score and cruise by once or twice in the evening

...er...yeah, I guess leaving a description of me about 6 posts ago kinda gives it away. :D
That pic was taken VERY reluctantly...its not so much a pose, more of "hurry up, I'm feeling very self conscious"
And I was chatting to my buddy.
Funny-as a result of that picture, the photographer works for a little independent bike magazine and now wants to do an interview and photo shoot ... :?
But having the bridge all lit up in the back ground and all the guys hanging around, makes it look good - I think we were the only 2 girlie bikers actually on our bikes, there that evening.

ok tinks, this is in another section too but this one questions for the ladies and you are..... a lady, so. how the he!! did you get that picture inside your post, im pounding my head on the wall trying to figure it out. i am however a one-fingered-wonder-typer and dont have alot of other coputer related skill so the fact that im computer-retarded doesnt help either. so howd you do it?

Tallulah Tinkerbelle
08-18-2005, 07:40 AM
ok - any pic you want to post in this forum probably needs to be hosted on a website somewhere. If you right click on my picture, it will give you a list of options. Select 'Properties', down the bottom of the list. This will open another dialogue box and in the middle somewhere it will have 'Address URL'.

For example, my pic will have: " http://www.fazer-mania.co.uk/gallery/pics/u/10068/normal_IMG_5612.JPGsmall.JPG"

Because thats the address of where I have my pics hosted.
Highlight and Copy that address ( ctrl + Q ) then in a new message or reply message you have a list of boxes that run under the Subject line. Select 'IMG', paste your address that you copied then select 'IMG' again, to close the link.
Et voila, thats should then post your picture.
If your pics are on your PC, then you need to upload them to a hosting website. MSN do one with Hotmail.
Hope this helps

Hey, Im 33 and Ive been riding since I was 16. I have an 05 R6, Red. I have integrated my tail lights and replaced all stock stickers with black flame decals. It looks awesome. I had to have it lowered an inch though. Some chicks may be vertically challenged but we make up for it in how fast we can go horizontally.

more and more girls on r6's, this site is getting better. i just happened to come off an exit and come riding beside a girl in purple leathers on a blue r6 with long blonde hair flying out the back of her helmet, she could ride too, i bet she was hot under that helmet. we rode for a while together then she turned off, i shouldve followed. why isnt she on this site?

08-23-2005, 09:19 AM
I was riding on the freeway the other day and a guy on a Suzuki started riding with me. We both got off at the same exit and I pulled to the side of the lane so he could pull next to me but he stayed behind. Guys, dont be afraid. You can pull up next to us. I find it more fun to ride with someone even if I dont know them.

Are you guys allowed to filter? Thats mainly what I do when I go off and play with some one - we charge around like hooligans, screaming up and down roads in first gear, filter to front of lights, overtake all the traffic...a bit like playing tag :D
Best bit is when you find a nice roundabout and practice getting your knee down  Then plod turn up and you quickly have to make an exit!!

Had a couple of good rides with randoms - it's satisfying if you don't get passed, just got to make sure you stay within your limits.
Can't beat a bit of roundabout surfing, I just wish there was some that went the other way - give me more of a chance to get my left one down!

Tinks, I'm impressed you manage it - a friend of mine used to ride a vfr400 up until recently and she was so cautious around corners that knee dragging was out of the question.
Kudos to you.

hey tinks, to answer your question a few posts back, no were not allowed to filter in canada. youll get a fine. but i do in anyways if traffic is bad, like an accident or something. saves so much time.

i have a question for you though. whats "pillion" mean? ive read that a few times and dont know what it means. is it an english thing? us canadians dont always understand what your talkin aboot eh. although weve got a good many of our own goofy sayings too.

What you have to bear in mind is that the only perception/knowledge that most Brits have about Canadians is what we've learned from watching South Park. So, yes, those sayings of yours are completely arse about face and I have no idea what you mean. :P

However, 'pillion', is what you call you passenger, should you ever take one on a bike. The seat the they sit on is called the 'pillion seat' and I'm sure we could even call the pegs, 'pillion pegs' .....Sometimes this is shortened to 'pilly'

im not getting into that, if i start canada vs US it will never end. USA has alot for it, write off your motrtgage, an actual army, we just have an airforce of GU-11's (get it? gulls). canada has some things for it too, cheaper university prices, peaceful, we dont get involved in politics much, we just kinda hang out up here. the canadian civil war was a bar fight that lasted a little over an hour.

I have been riding for only a short while, 5 months to be exact. I bought an 05 r6. I thought I was gonna be in over my head buying this bike for my first bike but it has turned out to be fine. My boyfriend got me into bikes about a year and a half ago. He had to get rid of his Honda so I thought I would step up to the plate and get myself a bike. My boyfriend loves the fact that I drive now. His friends get a kick out of it too, especially at the shop where he works. And he likes to ride as a passenger. He says its nice to be in a diff seat on the bike and he is comfortable with me in control. And the attention is amazing. when we are both on the bike people, especially women, honk and shout like they are so excited to see a fellow woman driving a bike.

I am from Baton Rouge and I don't know of any other female riders on sport bikes. Please reply if any of you (including those males too) are in my area.

To set the record strait, a very small portion of Canadians talk like that. Only Newfies(Newfoundlanders). And I dont mind bashing Newfies cause I dont think they have the internet there yet!! Basically its a island off the east coast of Canada. Is it really even a part of Canada??!! :smt102
