Hey all, first post on these boards, hoping I'll get some good info and want to stick around!

Heres the deal -- 2000 R6, 33k miles, has ran smooth since the day I bought it (used). Went for a short ride and here is the issue -- if I open the throttle quickly at any rpm in any gear even just for slightly above average acceleration the noise gets deeper and seems to have a gurgle to it and there is virtually NO acceleration. The tach is nice and steady just slowly crawwwling up, no additional/abnormal vibrations, just the noise and complete lack of acceleration. Any ideas?

Any help at all is appreciated.

did you sync the carbs lately? mine is `99 and after do the carbs it runs smoothly, also check the fuel filter maybe its not good and limiting the fuel supply.

Its on the to do list, at the moment the two screws in front of the gas tank that allow you to lift it were over-tightened prior to me getting the bike so I can't remove them without stripping. Still working on that or finding some new ones so I can just have them drilled out.

mmm that`s weird. you gotta get rid of those anyway, have you tried applying some WD-40 on em?

Um....depending on how "hard" its been ridden....that seems like a ring issue to me. If it were the carbs being out of sync it would appear in lower rpms and then disappear in higher rpms. Also another reason / cause for this would be poor airfilters...the sliders inside the carbs themselves may be shot.. But honestly Im thinking you have "washed" your rings. One fast and easy way to find out is to remove your oil cap on the side, take your finger, run it down inside, get some oil on your finger and smell it. If it smells like gas....Youve lost rings. If it doesnt smell like gas then its most likely your carbs.
