You really don't have to read all the material... a lot of people install it, set the RPM range and leave it. But if you want to tweak and play with all the options, tweak away :P

Just to let you know... this is a limited time offer, direct from the manufacturer. Prices are likely to increase when sold through retailers.

If anyone has any questions, or are concerned with installation etc... let me know - I'm checking the post every day. I can post up the installation guide and other info if of interest.

It was actually designed as a performance based indicator. Many people have bough one just for the bling factor though :)

I've sold a few to track riders, using it for both track work and as a training tool... its original intent. Consider it more of a replacement for you tacho. If your doing some serious riding, you can't concentrate on reading your tacho. Some people say they don't read it anyway, but it is useful information of benefit... particularly for consistency, if you can see it.

It replaces the tacho by showing you the range of interest. It was designed with only 7 lights for a reason. Any more, and you start having trouble seeing how many are on, any less, and its not as useful. So if you set the first light to come on a 6,000rpm... anything below that and you know your off engine pace. When you've got one or two lights on, you know your at the start of you power curve... if your blipping down gears, this is where you want to be. If you blipping down too fast, your going to get too many lights reading and your not optimally changing down at the right time... your loading up the rear tyre with different engine braking loads (not consistent). If your mid to exiting a corner, you can tell what pace your doing... bit slower/faster etc.

Straight line shifting and launch control is also a primary benefit. Dragsters always have shift lights for this purpose. I get a few people that say they know when to change, but I can guarantee they aren't consistent. Ever seen a 600 or 750 take a litre bike from standing start... yet they "just got a bad takeoff"! In the heat of the moment, the adrenalin clouds your concentration... I've seen it, people over rev the engine, because they are pushing it harder - the engine does what it does, despite the emotion wanting to push it. If your been on the track, particularly trying to get past a thumping twin... I shift with the shift lights, when in the mix, I can't hear the engine like I usually do to change at the same point, and I hate losing it on the exit after going around the outside.

When on track, I set the range differently than road. I also find I might make slight adjustments to where I shift... adjust it be one or two hundred rpm, and my shift point automatically changes.

Consistency is important for track riding. There is a reason why manufacturers are including shift lights with bike... there is a reason why shift lights are available for sale. This one provides the extra info, and has a wide display with a wide viewing angle suited for motorbikes. Particularly as we aren't always directly in front of the display like a car. I don't watch the shift lights... it takes a couple of weeks of practice, but you can read it in your periperhal vision, I leave my eyes on where I'm going 8). Valentino uses a shift light... and you might notice a couple of F1 cars at the Melbourne grand prix had a very similar shift light setup sitting behind the wheel.

I didn't really want to post as a sales pitch or anything... I just want to show that there is more to the blinking lights than just bling... which most people see from face value.

:D

For those wanting to know what it looks like close up...

http://members.optushome.com.au/ecliptech/ShiftI_Perspective.jpg

I cropped the wires off  , but otherwise these are actual photos! The colours however are more rich/intense being LED's, and they shine through clear acrylic lenses - hard to get the colours right with the camera.

Fitted to a Ducati and a VFR400

I'm talking with distributors at the moment, and they definitely won't get any cheaper! I've sold them to Australia, New Zealand, USA, Ireland and France... to people that want it for both bling, street, track work, rally driving... and one special one for a pocket bike racer :P1 Ha haa....

These are still available!

I'm almost out of those that can be customised with you own colour pattern, but otherwise have stock of two standard colour patterns.

These are very cheap for what they are, direct from the manufacturer, otherwise they would be over $220 retail. Orders usually shipped next day from payment received, either CC, Bank Transfer or Money order.

Any questions at all, whether it be fitment or how to use these, please let me know. Only requires 3 wires at the back of the instrument. Most people install themselves, and I can provide snap on wire clips for free if requested. A few people have also taken it to their mechanic to install too, but most of the time is just taking the fairing off.

You can contact me for more info at ecliptech AT optusnet.com.au :)
