So Im looking at getting a bike well actually I am getting a bike just as soon as I find one.
I have come to the decision I would like a 2003 and newer R6 and Im not that concerned on miles and overall looks of it as it is my first bike and I just might end up dumping it, so scratches not an issue.
i came across a 2003 with just of 30k on it, it is in great shape and well taken care of. My question is though of how many more miles does this thing have left on it? What are the concerns I should have about it having that kind of miles on it and things to look out for.
Oh and :hello2:

So long as the bike you’re talking about was taken care of, it should have a lot of life left. You may need to have the valves adjusted or do other maintenance to the bike like cleaning the chain, changing out fluids, or get new tires but the engine should work great. I have a 2003 R6 with 22k miles on it and never once had a problem. My brothers 01' R1 just hit 33K and runs great. Have fun with the bike and keep the rubber side down!:headbang:

Yea the valves were checked and or adjusted at 26k and it has the 520 conversion about the same time...Guy has some pretty nice other bikes that all seem to be in great shape, very well kept and clean... The price is just under $3500 which I think isnt that bad

I would consider this bike, because I know I had a few bikes before and I wouldn't let a spec of dust touch any of them, I was really anal with my babies, it was almost an obsession. So as long as this guy doesn't have bikes full of rust and chicken **** hidden under tarps (personal experience) than i think your clear to make the deal. As far as maintenance goes, look it up and down, rub your finger across the chain whatever man, take your time looking at it, your the one spending a few thousand, so f*ck him if he gets pushy. Check fluids, run the bike and listen to it, give the throttle some cranks and listen to that aswell...once it warms up, Then shut r' down and check the oil while she's warm, just make sure to stand the bike upright first and let that oil drip down before checking it. Visually look at the break pads, look at the meat left on the tires, look at the "chicken strips" on the back tire to see how this guy road it into corners, at least this way you can tell if he was dragging his knee and riding her hard or if he was riding it like a grandma... hopefully for your sake he was riding it like a grandma. Do all the basic stuff like that and then use your best judgment.
after 30 000 k's i mean you could honestly check a bunch of things, like front and rear suspension, valve clearance, obviously spark plugs, cylinder calibration etc. it goes on forever, but as long as the basic stuff is good then the rest can be regular maintenance at your local shop.
30 k's by the way isn't that much. I've heard of guys going past 100 k's and even 150 k's... as long as the bike is kept in great condition then you'll be fine. I heard for most bikes, cosmetic parts will be flying off before the engine ever dies. Good Luck man and be safe!
