Ive put about 300 miles on my 2005 r6. They say i should change my oil at 600 miles but i want to change it sooner. What kind of oil should i use, cause i read that i shouldnt use synthetic oil in the break in process. thanks.

Stick with Yamalube. You'll get lots of love from your bike.

Don't change it early. They say 600 for a reason. You bike needs to wear in a certain manner. As particles wear off your engine they circulate through the oil system. (You can see them when you change your oil) As they circulate they create further wear thus leaving your motor in it's eventual normal state. Don't change your oil until 600. But, stick with yamalube, but kawachem is the same thing.

I'd have to disagree on the reasoning behind changing your oil at less than 600 miles. Saying you need the casting particles to aid in break in is complete bullsh@t.
The intent at 600 mi is that anything that was going to wear after assembly is done wearing. If you change the oil at 300 mi and there are any aprts that wear after, those particles and fragments will be in your oil for longer then yamaha intends.
Say for example you change at 300 mi and then join the regular change interval. You next oil change should be at 4000 mi. So that means if you had particles released at 400 mi and you don't change again until 4000mi, you'll have crap in your oil for 3600mi. Whereas if you wait until 600mi to make your oil change you would only have crap in the oil until 600mi.
It has absolutely nothing to do with needing the worn particles to aid in further break-in.[/b]

i am going to have to sgree with fierohink, hes right, dont listen to that other guy, thats complete BS. os for types of oil, im not so sure of brands i like motul, my bike seems to like it. for break in use mineral oil. after break in you could go to a semi-synthetic, i have heard many rumors and stories of why not to use fully synthetic, belive what you want of those, just remember most gas stations dont carry fully synthetic motorcycle oil! so if your out on a long ride and you run low far from home or any bike shop, its nice to be able to top up with some mineral-oil if you need, you shouldnt mix them on a regular basis you should use one type or the other, but a semi synthetic is compatible with mineral oil. where a fully synthetic is not. (mineral oil is what the gas station will have)
