Hey guys the name's Josh. I've been riding for about.. 6 months now? Haha well the story is 6 months ago I didn't even know how to drive standard but I wanted to learn how to ride a bike! So an older friend gladly trains me on his '05 R1. Slowly but surely, by the 2nd day I was riding on the streets. A couple of weeks later, after I got the hang of it, I broke the 100mph marker. A couple days later, after I grew some balls, I broke the 160mph marker. And a few days after that, I maxed out the bike at 189mph(Held it there for a good 6 seconds and it never passed). Believe it or not, I have no proof of these "achievements" or experiences your just gonna have to believe an adrenaline thirsty 17 year old junkie.

Now I would ride that bike almost 3 x a week and not to mention All day Sunday(when my buddy was willing to lend it to me, as long as I came back with the bike cleaned up and with a full tank) with the rest of the crew. I even bought my own Arai helmet, Alpinestar gloves, and jacket! A few months later, after being a little tipsy, HE laid it down at about 1 in the morning going 40-50mph. Thank god he was alright but the bike was pretty fucked up. So that left me with NO ride!! So I started looking for my own bike. I didn't care what it was as long as it was a Yamaha. I started giving up after 2 months of nonstop searching on Craigslist and Ebay until an older friend called me saying he needed to sell his '07 R6 now. Reason being is because he bought an '08 Mustang GT and couldn't keep up with the payments. I bought it. (Has 9k miles on it. Was laid down once, nothing major, all damages were repaired.)

Now what? I'm used to a somewhat upgraded R1. Well then I have to mod/upgrade my R6! Now I don't know much about bikes, only the basics. I hear ALOT about
-Power Commanders
-Steering Stabilizers
-Racing Tires(What brand?)
-Carbon Fiber Parts
-HID Lights(For the looks only, of course)

I know you guys here on the R6 Forums know much more about this stuff then I do. So the REAL question is What upgrades/mods should I install on a '07 R6 to better its performance? (Don't worry about the price of anything, just remember to list specifics and Top of the Line upgrades)

Thanks in advance, hope I didn't bore you! (Will update with Pics today/tomorrow)

Ask your friend as he is the owner of a R1, there is nothing much different in upgrading a R1 and R6 !! :tongue8: OR read through the thread(s) !!!

Thank GOD you live in Texas, because if you tried to ride with me....we'd kick you off/out of the group ride. The first thing you lead off your post with is bragging about how fast you've gone....and you barely have any riding experience to speak of. DEFINITELY buy safety gear first! (I'm sure you're going to need it). Second, look into a Motorcycle Safety course if your state has one. Pennsylvania offers one for free and you get your class "C" license if you complete the course successfully.

yeah i cant agree with them more.... safety first, at 190mph a pothole will ruin your life. Keep those speeds at a track, not on a street man

agreed with everything above.
got an 07 yzf, no real mods as 1 spill would be a waste to the investment.
only thing done was muffler and flush mount lights with plate holder.

I say, no mods to the bike will save your life. gear will.
good luck and stop being an idiot. topping the bike doesn't grow you balls. only a shorter lifespan on earth.

Couldnt agree more with everyone above. When I read that about you running 189+ on a local road I instantly thought "He wont be around long". Do what they said. get the gear and some years experience under your belt before you start beefing up your horsepower. Being as you are 17 you will more than likely disregard everything they and I have said and we will most likely read about you in the obituary.

Not very smart man!!! I have only been riding for a few weeks and know my limits. The thing is, you might think you know how to ride, but sometimes it isn't the rider, but the other variables around you. Slow down and get some good gear!!!

+1

Let the wetness behind your ears dry out a little. Besides, it's super easy to go fast in a straight line, any smuck can do that, R6 or R1, whatever.

Take it to the track and then come back and brag about how fast you're able to go....snerk.
