: Battery? Wirring? Ignition?

I have an 08 r6 and have been experiencing some problems with starting. I put the battery on a charger and it reads 100% 14.9 volts for about 20 min and then read full. Went ridding about 2-3 hours stopped to get gas, went to turn it on and wouldn't start. It tried to turn over so tried again and then seemed to be completely dead, push started it, rode around about another 30min stopped for a phone call and again wouldn't start.
Did notice some fluctuation in power thru the head
lights. What could it be? I will have the battery checked.
Any ideas?

Your battery may have taken a dump and no longer holds a long term charge. Pull the battery and have it load tested and tested for holding a charge for several hours.

Next I would check you rectifier regulator, if your battery checks out then the r/r is likely the culprit. This unit regulates how much voltage is going to the battery to maintain charge and how much gets bled off to the ground.

If the r/r doesn't fix your problem, then you will likely need a stator. The stator is the winding of wires that generates an electrical field from the spinning magnet (rotor) inside the side cover of your bike.

Hey thanks for the heads up. Is it a pain in the ass to repair?

No. No one component should take more than an hour to remove. Worst case you have to pull all three and you might have an afternoon of relaxed paced wrenching.
