Ok here is the deal...I'm planning on some bolt-on performance stuff to my 04 (already with a micron high mount. I was thinking:
1. Velocity Stacks
2. Advance timing
3. Matched Injectors
4. K&N
5.then re-map the ECU
My questions are: 1. Will these really work?
2. Are they worth the work and money?
I am just going on things that I read on the net and thought these would be the best bang for the buck. Any Ideas that you guys (and girls) might have would be great. I want to get some more power out of it but at the same time keep most of the reliability

What is your intended amount of performance gain?
I'm going to sum this up out of order, but it'll be in the "easiest" order of improvements.
#4 The K&N will get you 3-6hp. It's $50 bucks. You pop the tank and the airbox, and you now have a lifetime reusable aircleaner
#1 These are good for another couple (3-6hp). Again like $50-$100 depending on where you get them , graves motorsports or ebay or whatever. Relatively easy to install, again pop the tank and the airbox and they screw onto the tops of the injectors where they stick up into the airbox.
#5 Re-map the ECU? I'm guessing you mean to toss in like a PCIII or Yoshi EMS box. You can get some serious power like 10% increases plus you'll smooth out that little hole at 5.5k (I added this one further down the list due to cost) You're looking at $250-$300. Pop the seat and plug the box into the middle of the wiring harness.
Now at this point you're going to limited by the slip-on. The bike is going to be capable of sucking in more air and fuel but won't be able to dump it fast enough. You should be looking at a full system or get in touch with Micron and pick up the serpent header.
#2 These are generally last round of improvement when you've done everything else and you don't want to buy stage 3 cams from yamaha. $100 will get you the adjustable ignition key. A days work to install. Only under pro supervision. And maybe good for 5hp.
#3 If you're thinking of getting injectors. Don't. Buy a bike with more power stock.
The further you push a bike to the limits of its performance the lower your reliablity is. If you've done everything up to this point with some quality workmanship you're talking about an r6 making 125hp. If you need more, buy a gsxr-750.
