i was wonderind if anyone has tried a techlusion yet and if they're
difficult to tune. i can pick one up for about half the cost of a pc.

The techlusion is just as easy to tune as it is to install. I highly recommend it. Expect better performance and strangely enough, better gas mileage!

The GM for a Yamaha dealer here in FL told me not too long ago that his engine fried because his power commander failed on a race at high speed. This leads me to believe that it could also happen to someone else. Think twice before spending twice as much for a Power Commander.

Define "fried".
Even if the PC3 quit working, it would just run lean or rich. Either way, you would lose performance and pit. You have to be at 100% to get a podium.
So it runs rich, you foul your plugs and carbon everything up. No biggy.
So it runs lean, you'd run hot and your trouble lites and gauges would come on. And that would takes some time, and some laps. And if the GM ignored those signs then he's an idiot.
I have trouble believing that the bike would overheat anyway. These things run their best on the track. I can run three heats and have engine temps on the track of 180F due to the high volume of air you're moving. The bike heats up more riding through the paddock and starting grid then it would ever get on the track.
PC3's control fuel. That's it. No oil management. No coolant management. It's basically an electric jet-kit. And no matter how bad you f'd a carb you weren't going to fry a motor.
Your GM is telling stories. Sorry.
