Just ask Hacking or perhaps Desalvo. Oh, did you notice the 1 , 2, 3, finish to the AMA series. The r6 is an incredible machine. I use it to make 750s and 1000s feel very stupid at the track on a regular basis. It's ALL about corner speed.
As far as racing and what you need... you don't need much. And depending on how you plan on racing is going to determine what you can do. I generally shoot for stock/superstock/supersport type events with WERA. So I'm limited to brakes pads, safety gear (clip-ons, sliders, shark skinz) and tires, and a jet kit ( yeah I still got carbs). No internal work. But you can try for some of the xtreme classes and then you can go big bore kit, cams, ignition advancers, adjustable triple trees, shifters. Sky's the limit with those classes.
what i want to know is if the r6 ist on the cbr 600 level? a friend of mine made claculations and r6 has 276 real top speed and cbr 600 272... he also rode a cbr and he sad that r6 had better middle power... i dont understand they keep saying that r6 is not good...

Not really sure where you are getting your info man. Is 272 mph or Kph? If you are talking miles per hour then the R6 goes about 154 mph, not sure about a CBR.
All I can say is that any 600 supersport bike is going to be close in comparisions. You would have to be damn good on a bike to notice some of the small difference's in each companies offering. Like the last post stated, I know guys who could ride Ninja 250's and house guys at the track on R1's, the main reason why, they can carry amazing corner speeds and all of these guys hold expert AMA racing cards, as opposed to me, who is carry hardly any speed in the corners.
What I would do is look closely at the team racing results, magizine opinions, etc. You will see the R6 will hold its own any day of the week and twice on Sunday! Mad props however to Honda for a very slick design on the 04 and 05 CBR RR, that rear end is so sharp. Good luck man.
i am talking in kilometers per hour... here in portugal there are no r6 racing... i think its because the importer does not suport racing.. racing in portugal is not easy...

Check for the results of WSS World Super Sport racing. They run 600cc 4-pots and upto 750cc twins. Again you'll see that R6's place very high. When you talk about the performance differences between any of the 600's you the differences are almost negligable(sp?). These thins are so close you could have back to back comparisons and come up with a different winner everytime you brought them together.
Long story short, given a skilled rider, an r6 will trump anything. And given a really skilled rider, an ex500 will whoop an r6. Don't laugh I've had it happen at the same event that I was lapping a cbr929rr.
It all comes down to skill. The bike won't matter then.
cool... like kevin schawtz says:' in f1 its 20% pilot 80 % car, in motogp is 20% bike 80 % pilot '

Who does Rossi ride for again...........oh yeah.....YAMAHA! Enough said!
that has nothing to do with r6, or r1... because yamaha in motogp is not a great thing.. they developed the bike trough this year and won.. just because of the pilot , because honda was much better.. but on the end of the championiship the bike was on the level of honda... but this is an example... in motorcycling the pilot is what counts most..
