I am currently looking at upgrading to a R6 in the next 12 months. I tend to cruise most of the time however I do enjoy putting down a little pace on the twisties. I am just wondering how is the R6 for just cruising along. Is it happy to cruise or does always want more, does it have any power in the mid range or do you have wind it out. Do you have to ride it on the red line to get some power.

Since the bike is so light, it is very happy anywhere in the rpm range. Although understand that it was designed to be run 9k and higher. Once you get to the bigger numbers on the tach you'll understand why they're print BIGGER. I've done many a road trip on my beast. 300-400 miles in a day without batting an eye. And once I get to where I'm going, dump the tank bag and back pack and it's time to make the locals look stupid.

I find my 06 R6 likes to crus at around 80. Always having to back down, then the next thing I know I'm back at 80

Yes the bike does have some midrange power. I usually cruise about 90 on the interstate the bike is good there but its also fine lower. But I can guarantee you that you are going to want to go fast. Ive had my 2003 R6 for a little less than a week and Ive already had 143 on the speedo and I just started riding about a week ago.
