Hey guys,
I'm going up to look at a 1999 R6 and am wondering if there's anything in particular I should look for. The seller's asking $4500 CAD (which is approx. $3600 USD). It has 30k on it. He says the bike is in mint condition and doesn't have any modifications to it whatsoever (not even frame sliders). Any suggestions?

BTW at how many km's does the R6 motor require a rebuild of any sort?

Let me know,
Luis

I just bought one from my bro in law that I worked on with him over the years and the only problem we had was his fuel pump went in it. Replaced with a R1 pump (He recon it went faster :) ) and now it is excellent.

To answer your question, I have only every heard of normal riding/ware and tear issues from buying a 10 year old R6 and no real know problems to look out for.

Just to make sure it is all good after you buy it, it is worth spending a couple of hundred and getting someone to look at the engine to make sure it is all up to specs. EG, if the bike has 30K on it, did the last owner get the exhaust valvs services at 20K. Maybe im too particular but if your going to have an R6, may as well have it running properly.

Well what i think never buy a bike older than 5-6 years, in your case it is around 10 so i suggest go for other deal as these old bikes will create problems for sure they need high maintainance cost. As up to you buddy
