: Radio/Speakers?
tli2001 11-08-2004, 08:34 AM Hello, I saw someone on a Suzuki the other day blasting music from his bike somewhere... hidden speakers maybe? Anyone know how to do that and how much it would run? How much drain would it put on the battery?
Also, has anyone experimented with XM Radio on their bikes? I'm considering installing a receiver so it can play through the hidden speakers as mentioned above. I don't want to use those speakers they have for helmets.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Seriously, can anyone help?
NTFireFighter 11-13-2004, 04:11 AM yea, it requires lots of custom mouting and wiring, but it can be done, really it comes down to can you do it and make brackets yourself, or you going to pay someone to do it. There are lots of places that will make it work for speakers, like Tweeters, really any higher end audio places. Stay away from circuit citys and etc, they will just glue things in, you need brackets custom made. as far as a player goes i dont think there is anywhere you can mount it, it cant really touch too much cause of vibrations so you may need to do like an MP3 player with radio on it. Speakers can be put anywhere, like up front by the windshield on the backside, get them to run along the supports near the mirrors, or maybe down by the backside of the headlights.....the rest can be under the body somewhere, but you will need to heat shield them, also dont go cheap on the speakers otherwise you will know about it, go with bose or something of high quality. As far as a player, you can do XM i know they have that new portable one, i dont know much about the specifics for size and what it requires so thats a possibility you just need an external antenna, and that can basically go anywhere.....but if you just wanna stay with AM / FM and a lot of songs, buy a really good MP3 player that can do it or belive it or not there are some new PDA's that can do that, with expandable memory, you can load from like a gig of songs (plenty to ride all day) it can be mounted right to the front of the bike, and can get radio added onto it i believe....the decision is if you want mp3 only, or do you want radio, then how many mp3's you want with it, cause it all depends on what kind of player....for just mp3's and you only want like 512 megs to a gig you should go with a memory mp3 player like rio or IRiver, if you want more you need to go with a hard drive based like Ipod or Irivers's one, difference between the 2 are options really, sony makes one but it converts 8track so that kinda sucks but the thing is tiny. Anyhow there are a lot of ways to go and if you want i can take my bike to my guy who does radio and see what he says, drop me an e-mail at NTFireFighter@yahoo.com

Don't get me wrong ladies and gentlemen, we don't all have to be road racers or stunters, but bikes that are meant to have radios come with them.....like Goldwings.....you can even get that "sweet" helmet with the built in mic so you can talk to your senior citizen wife!!! :P

tli2001 01-07-2005, 11:30 AM Thanks NTFireFighter, the only person with a helpful response.
However it seems like too much time/money/effort though so I'll have to scrap the idea. Guess I'll just stick with the ipod for now.
Umm thanks Bacardi God for the pic, it's not what I had in mind but it's good for a laugh.
Devious1 02-22-2005, 12:19 AM  WHY ?
