Hi, well I just joined and I thought I would kick off with a few questions, I currently own a FZR 250, (no laughing) I plan to move up to a new R6, but have a few questions so here goes?

I have heard that the R6 can be a little twitchy in the handling department, I also heard alot of the 600's are, is this true and is it corrected with a dampner. I also heard the 05 model the above problem is addressed and is less twitchy?

I have not ridden a R6 yet, but Im hoping the power is smooth, What I find with the 250 is coming out of a corner it lacks low down grunt, (you have to really wind it up in the rev range, what is the R6 like?, smooth? scary? etc.

These may seem strange but my background on bikes is hellsih 2 stroke dirtbikes and gutless 250 4 stroke road bikes lolol. 2 extremes.

When the 2003’s came out, articles were written about how well it handled. Like a 250gp bike. I knew that it would handle great, but was concerned about the power because I was moving from a 900 twin. I have to rev so much higher than before, but have realized that this is what 15,500 rpm’s are for. I have always enjoyed trying to be as smooth with the throttle, and the R6 will not test till about 6k’s, than your skills are truly used. 2005’s should be better. I don’t think you will be displeased with any year R6.

Also I was under the impression that it made no power in the lower rpm’s. After a test ride, the bike was mine. I have to slip the clutch a bit in town but it is no problem even with my wife on back.

Pre injection R6's definately need a steering damper, 03/04 model is much more stable especialy if you use bridgestone 014 tyres, I took my damper off.
I now have an 05 R6 and find it a little more twitchy, ( the opposite to what the mags say) and will probably need to fit a damper once it is run in.

my 04 r6 isnt too bad, nice smooth power, definatly feel it about 6000 - 7000 is where is comes in, and the only time the steering is a little wierd is high rpm accelerating when the front tire really isnt even touching the ground
