I have money down on an '05 R6. Should I have the dealer install the exhaust I want or by from an independant supplier and do it myself? Im having a tough time deciding between a D&D, Yoshi, or Micron. I heard the sound clips and HP is not a factor for me. A friend said D&D was crap, but you cant beat the head-turning volume. Micron is the only without rivots to make repacking easier. How often do you have to repack these slip-ons? This is a great web site and will join when I get the bike.

My advice is to go with the Micron. Go with the high mount. I have the 03 in liquid silver and I have the high mount in the silver to black fade....looks/sounds great. Your friend is right about D&D, so I would stay away....they are loud though, if that is what you want.

repacking depends on riding. If your gentle you can go 6-8k. Lots of track riding 3-5k. and if you have the dollars...go full sys. The serpent can't be beat.

i agree with full systems micron. there headers are the best out there on the market today. as for dealer install personally since you dont know the bike that well yet i would have the dealer do it. yeah it might cost you some cash but you dont want to accidently mess something up....

I din't know much about bikes when I first started. Mostly cars and mowers and crap. But when I bought the girl knew it was cheaper to do my own work. I'd say give it a crack at doing the exhaust yourself. Gives you a real close look at all the shiny parts and you'll develop an understanding of what goes where.

Yea do it yourself, get it back and done the same day, and if something doesnt go right well, you allready gotta bring it there and let them take care of it so really what do you have to lose?
