Hey Y'all! I'm going to be a full fledge R6 owner soon. Hence my interests of joining this R6 club enthusiasts. I'm very curious, some people say that the Special Editions have HID (High Intesity Discharge) lamps as OEM. Is this true? Or is it just a false claim. And does anyone know if the lights on the other ones other than the Special Editions have HIDs as OEMs?
Cheerio!

I am pretty sure that none of the R6's come with HID's in any way at all. However there is person that can do that for ya, he changes the lights so there are 2 highbeam and 2 low beam lights, not just 1 and 1....and makes it symetrical, and offers the HID setup .... www.highbimmin.com
I am doing it this winter when i have to take it apart from when the drunk girl hit my bike and when i layed it down to not hit some deer....pistol permit class is tommrow i will be straigntening out some deer thats for sure

....wuss...
hiding behind a gun. I took one out on the bike in Aug. Got the PD report to prove it. Bambi jumps out and darts in front of me. POW. I hit'em in the 3/4 hind end, headlights explode I can't see. He rolls up the fairing and I end up putting my shoulder into him. The whole while I keep it on 2 wheels. I pull off, and assess the situation.
Headlight..........gone
Upper Bracket...gone
Gauge cluster....dead
Bike.................Still Running.
Quick call to 911 to report the incident, as well as to inform them there will be a motorcycle going through town in about 10 mins with no lights so please don't cite me;)
Good news was I knew the 2 locals that responded so they let me follow behind them w/o lights. Otherwise it's a reportable to good 'ol penndot if you have to be towed from the scene. :(

yea its all different where you live, since i work at the PD they would just ask me what i want on the report and if i wanted one at all...i was like 1/8 of a mile from my house on my way home, 4 deer, layed it down on a dirt rd when i hit my brakes...bike slid and went out from under me...hit the stupid deer, one landed on my, one on the bike....bike stopped runnin and when i got up off the rd, i made sure that i was in working order, picked up the bike, and it started right up....all the gauges worked but i destroyed the housing around the headligts but the headlights are good, mirror, left side upper and lower ferring, and the rear fender def all shot...took out the signal too but i had 2 new greggs led's sitting in the garage.....so i am gonna garage it for the winter since its like 50 out all the time now... so i guess while i got it all apart im gonna make it ready for spring with a new exhaust, headlights with HID's, signals, power commander and maybe a steering dampener....and then ofcourse since i cracked my helmet on a rock when i hit the ground at 30mph i am gonna get a new shoei
and if anyone knows where to get body parts online cheap please let me know

If have noticed the same thing at night with my 03 SE, and my friends said they see it in their mirrors when I had my brights on during the day. I looked into it and came to the conclusion that it is in the design of the 03&04s. The curve of the outer lense is so steep that it gives of a sort of blue line along the top of luminated objects as I go buy. It is ageat design exept soo bright in the hi sitting that people have gotten alittle pissed, and told me at stop lights. I guess Yamaha changed the cutouts of the 05s so this could be why?

Yeesh! What's the probs for those lights on a motorcycle. Wouldn't it be better to be seen and to see ahead at night. I like the lights on the newer R6's. But I wonder what the light beam pattern is like on the '05's. My car has stock OEM HID's and woo it's so much better to see at night. Sure I get a few flipping fingers at me but hey it's not my fault. the road isn't flat it's like hey, i'm up here and you are down there, sure enough you'll get a little light on you. They flashed me and and flashed back to tell them "hey, i'm not on high beams you boob!" "why won't you get off the drugs that keeps your eyes dilated too while your'e at it?" hehehehe so many idiots on the road.

has anyone ever noticed that if you are on the throttle the lights are white and if you let off they go blue. some chick asked why i was flashing my lights at her. and my one friend thought i was the police.
