I just recently bought a R6 and I have about 400 miles on it. I was wondering what I should do for the Winter. I have a garage and I was planning on starting the bike about once a week in the winter time. I have been reading up on Winterizing your bike and it seems quite intense.

I have never done it before so I was wondering if anyone can provide some insight.

Thx.

I think that if you put some gas stablizer in the tank you should be fine if you are gonna run it once a week, but change the oil before and after the winter, you will just be better off....and get the first service done at a dealer, worth the money

Where are you and what kind of weather will you be seeing?
Also will this be a heated garage, moisture levels, and do you plan on riding it weekly or just starting it and then a quick kill? Battery trickle charger?

Thanks for the responses guys.

I live in NJ, so the temperature is hovering around 73 to 75 during the day and at night it is in the high 50's. My garage is attached to my house so it does stay a bit warm and dry. But, honestly, this is my first year with the bike and I don't remember the temperature last year in the garage.

I do plan on riding in the winter, maybe around the block or just starting it and letting it run for about 20 minutes. Or least get the temperature up to high 180. If it does not snow or rain on the weekends, I may ride it for about 40 minutes. It is just during the week I will not be riding it.

So basically, I would say once a week at least starting it for 20 minutes during the winter and if I can ride it, I will. Not sure if I am answering my own question.

All in all, I would rather just ride it at least for 1 hour on the weekends for the winter season Nov-Feb or around 4 months than winterize it.

Thanks again for the advice.

one thing alot of people forget. is your tires especially a new bike like yours. get a set of stands to get both front and rear tires off the ground so that way it wonr create flat spots.....
