I recently installed new spark plugs on my 03 Yamaha R6 (I installed the same exact ones from NGK).

However, when I start my bike I can hear the spark from the Spark Plugs (like a clicking sound). I can hear all four of them, and whenever I rev up the sound gets quicker (of course). With the old ones, I was not able to hear the spark. This only happened after I replaced them.

Is this because they are new? Is this normal?

Thanks for the help!

I have a 03 and Mine ticks alot, I was told it was the injectors making that noise...

Double check that you have the ignition coils seated all the way down and that their rubber collars are completely sealing off the holes. Usually I roll the collars towards the top so I can push the coils down further then unroll them and they should sit tight against the valve cover.

Thanks guys,

Yeah my ignition coils are there pretty good.

This past weekend I re-installed the spark plugs and tighten them 1/2 turn after gasket head came in contact........according to the crymer manual.

Forgot to mention that I
also added a BMC air filter.....

Do you think that there is more air coming in now and with the current fuel it is making louder "spark" noise?

I really appreciate your feedback,

Problem solved,

I went back and checked my ignition coils according to Fierohink......

And.....yes.....one of them wasn't all the way down......

You have to push hard and be able to feel it lock.....

Thanks for all the feedback..........

Thanks Fierohink.....
