I've been wondering which motorcycle is faster. Harley V-road or yamaha R6. Its a huge engine difference, but the harley's aren't really made for speed...

not too sure, but i dont know how any harley will do at 150 mph....i think the r6 is better off no matter what has more power or "potential speed" if you dont have aerodynamics at that speed you wont go anywhere

Now if you wanna get a taste of old school going new...this new norton (british bike) is coming out next yr

Norton was one of the most badass bikes ever made, big and heavy but could definatly haul ass and still smoke any harley out there, and probally keep up with a 600 ... the new ones i can only imigine

Wait a minute....somebody pinch me, I think I am having a bad dream where a V-Rod and an R6 are being compared!!! :?

Top speed or not, (and just so you know, the V-Rod tops out at 130 mph or so, and the R6 at 143 to 150mph), this two machines do not belong in the same sentence!

That is an indicated speed not real speed. These bikes are caled to euro specs that allows for an 8-10 % error where in the US it is 2-4%. The only way to know above about 80 is to have a gps or get clocked by a LEO.

r6 by a long way. about the calibrated radar thing, if you get dingd with a speeding ticket, this is a good chance of getting out of it. take it to court and say you were not going that fast and ask him when the radar gun was last calibrated. most cops dont do it or dont record it. apparently they have to do a test before they start and then in certain time intervals as they shoot with it. if they didnt do it, no matter how fast you were going it will be dismissed. a cop told me this and this has worked in canada (BC anyways). dont know about the states but it may be worth a try

Depends what the cop is shooting. Getting an accurate reading off a motorcycle is almost impossible either way. For a quick backround on how Radar and Laser work, they basically send out pulses of radio freq's and the bounce off things and then come back to the the gun. So when the first pulse hit an object it sends back a signal to the gun on how long it took to hit the object, and when the 2nd pulse hits the object, it sends that back to the gun as well, and it calculates based upon time how fast you were moving. And i believe its accurate up to 1/1000's of a second or something along those lines so that the speed is accurate all the time. So it will keep sending pulses out as the officer tracks you and your speed. Laser on the other hand works the same way, but the pulses are direct and even much more reliable. The hard part is that laser needs to hit your front licence plate or something flat in the front to get the reading. Hitting corvettes and motorcycles are almost impossible since they are sooo round and smooth the radio freq just bounces off of it.

All the cops in our town say getting a motorcycle isnt really pheasable. You have to be lined up just right, and have the motorcycle in just the right part of the lane and then they got you. And if you are doing 70+ they wont even engauge persuit. The motorcycle will smoke a cop cruiser, and besides if you are gonna do that anyhow if you crash there is a slim possibilty that you will do damage to someone else its generally slim. If they do engauge persuit and you take off, they will break it off, they wont chase you but if they get your plate, plan on a warrent for your arrest.

So getting caught on a bike? Slim to nil if you know what you are doing. You can pretty easily out run them. If you dont run from them, get a ticket, go to court and fight it. There is a really really good chance they will drop it, or make you donate money to a non profit organization. And then nothing will be on your record. Hope that helps

It would depend what color is the R6? Does the Harley have a windscreen?
