Im getting ready to switch over to royal purple max cycle.
my question is who carries it in the midwest? i only see the normal motor oil..?
and what weight 10w30 or 10w40 or maybe higher? manual calls for 10/30.

If you can't find that oil and you want a real good motorcycle oil you might consider us. Click on the oil testing link below to do some research on motorcycle oils. Motorcycle oil test data links

My '07 R6 calls for 10-30 at 10+ fahrenheit or 20-40 for 35+.

My 02' R6 has Motul 10W40 in it and its great, no slipping at all.

I got my royal purple at napa auto. i talked to the dealer i bought my bike from and they said to use 20/50 cuz thats what they use for an oil change.

20W-50 is indeed too high a viscosity.
10W-30 or 10W-40 Motorcycle Specific oil. NOT Auto oil.
The Best isn't cheap

I disagree. Everyone I talk to use 20W-40 or 20W-50 fully syn. I use Royal Purple 20W-50 Max Cycle which is what my local Yamaha service center recommends as well. The main thing you want to ensure is the wet clutch protection and avoid those environmental additives.

20W-40 and 10W-40 are the same thing..
You can disagree, it is your right.
People use a higher viscosity oil when using a petroleum oil or a cheap oil like RP because of shear..
If you use a Premium Synthetic, 10W-40 is the required oil.
Not sure what "environmental additives" you are referring too... Additives are what makes the oil work properly. An engine would not run for long just on a Base Stock.
