First of all, I would like to say I'm excited to be on the forums. I'll be getting an '04 or '05 R6 within the next moth and I've been reading all sorts of great info here. I'll be a first time rider, so I'm soaking everything that i can up.
My question is regarding high mount exhausts. I really like the look of high mounts, but I still need to be able to give people (girls :)) rides around town. I'll probably get a carbon pipe, I like the look of the micron high mount slip ons. Will having a high mount affect my ability to give people rides? I don't want to burn anyone. BTW the Micron pipe lets you keep the stock pegs in the back.

hey.. i dont think it should be a problem. i dont have a high mount, but i've been able put my hand on my slip-on and not get burned. its just feels warm around the muffler end and thats the part thats going to be closer to your girls (or their right foot thats is). it IS hot though around the thinner pipe inlet so make sure that it clears both you and your passenger.
enjoy your ride when you get it. i just got my first r6 (a 2001) three weeks ago, and i'm lovin it.

You should be fine. Plus when you're riding two-up you probably won't be thrashing at super-high rpms for long sustained periods where you would be developing the high heat in the exhaust system.
Just be mindful of the bends and tell whoever is on the abck not to put their feet/calf on the pipe.

Don't worry about the pipe getting to hot, I've run mine hard and the carbon feels warm but not so much that you'll get burnt. And just like the last post said, when someone is on the back you won't be running high rpm's for long periods. It should be alright. Here is a pic of my R6 with a Two Brothers carbon exhaust.

You'll be fine heat wise, either way you're not running a CBR RR or any ducati underseat exhaust so it isn't a factor

I have a 2005 R6 with a high rise Micron exhaust and I love it. It doesn't get in the way at all for your passangers and mine stays so cool it couldn't burn them if they tried... The sound is absolutely awesome, and you can't beat the looks... Take it from me you won't be disappointed... My name is Travis and I hope this helps.
