hi..
i just bought my first r6.. its a 2001. (i'm very excited. have been saving money for it for a year)

can someone tell me if it has a fuel on-to-off-to-reserve switch/valve?
i had a yamaha fzr600 before this bike, and it had it on the left side of the bike. i was taught to always put it on off when i finished riding.

the guy i bought the bike from told me he doesnt think it has one.. does that mean that there's always fuel going to to carbs??

if anyone can help me figure this out. :)

Congrats on the bike... they fuel shut off is located under the tank itself on the right side. To get to it, you actually need to unbolt the tank to get your hand in there. I havent had a problem with not turning it off.

thanks...
does that mean that there is no reserve? i'm guessing not, since there is a low gas gauge. right?

there is a .9 gallon reserve and low fuel light... the problem is if you need to use the reserve, good luck getting to it easily!

How do you turn on the reserve?

Back to your original question about whether there is a selector switch like your old fizzer, no. There is only a shut-off switch used when removing the tank, this is why it's buried under the tank.

As far as the reserve, it has an automatic reserve. When the low-fuel light comes on you are at .9 gallons remaining in the tank. Look for a fill-up.

Awesome. Thanks for clearing that up!
