Ok I have a 2006 r6 raven. It was backed up into in a parking lot and fell over onto the right hand side. The right handle bar snapped off directly left of the throttle control right of the engine cutoff switch. I have the new parts but am having major problems removing the old handlebar. I removed the nut in the center of the steering column, i also removed all of the "pinch bolts". The ones that hold stuff together by pulling parts together like a clamp. I also took off all of the equipment on the right hand that was bolted to the handlebar. I have no idea how to remove the plate in the center to get to the handlebars under neath. I also unscrewed the suspension tubes and got a healthy spray of fluid in the face. I now have no idea how to proceed and my bike slumped down as all the pressure in the suspension was released and i have no idea how to undo that either. And my local shops are no help. I live in richmond va and noone does a good job on sport bikes. Someone help please! its getting warmer!

There are basically two ways to get your clip-ons out to replace them.
You can loosen the bolts from the upper and lower triple tree clamp and slide the fork tubes down out of the upper clamp freeing up the bars. In order to take the weight off the front end I usualy hung ratchet straps from a beam in my garage then picked up the bike.
The other alternitive is to take the upper clamp off by removing the very large center nut.
You will probably still need to sling the front end in the air to rebuild your forks. I'm surprised no one wants to give you help from the local shops. Richmond isn't that far away from VIR. There should be somebody who is compitent on sportbikes.

I took off the center nut and removed all the clamp bolts too but it wont budge. I'm going to do the garage beam thing thanks i never would have thought of that!
I took my bike to the only local yamaha dealer which used to be cliffs and is now virginia motor sports or something similar and they dicked around for over a month ordering the wrong parts needing to order special tools and eventually ordering me race yellow fairings even though i have the black bike. After I got it back it was missing A LOT of pieces that hold the fairings on making them all loose. In fact i lost the plastic piece directly below the gas tank.. the carbon fiber looking one on the highway somewhere.
There are a couple bike shops around here but they do mainly honda and kawasaki.. the only other dealer is fms fredricksburg motor sports i think.
