Hey, I just got my 2003 r6 a few months ago. Lately when I get up over 10,000 rpm it will feel like I have lost a cylinder. It like kicks on and off and has a different sound. It is very random, never does it at the same rpm and it only will last for a second or two. The bike just went over 10,000 miles, I am not sure if the spark plugs have been changed or not. Anybody have this problem?

only had the problem with the bike not idling after a hard thrashing, but stopping and key off/on resets it and was fine. Turned out to be a faulty ambient air pressure sensor.

The TPS (throttle position sensor) is another possibility, have heard that some people have had results from removing and cleaning with switch cleaner (the stuff that doesnt leave any mess)

i have been having almost the same problem with my 03 r6. it almost studders like it is running out of gas. and sometimes it just shuts off when i pull in the clutch. but mine does the studder at about 8000 rpm. i changed my oil and the bike rode as smooth as silk for 200 miles and now it has gone back to the same problem. if you find out what it is i would appreciate it and i will let you know.

that could be a fuel tank breather blocked or semi blocked, which could happen from lifting the tank to change the air filter and maybe squashing the breather hose when re-fitted ?????

let it idle for a bit and then open the fuel cap whilst listening for a hiss. this is a sure fire sign that the tank is in slight vacuum and could explain poor fuel delivery.

also check fuel filter I reckon.

My '00 was missing badly up top and I was afraid that it was leaning out. I changed the fuel filter (which was dirty) and it is now going like a rocket. A cheap fix at $12AU.
I will now be changing the filter on a regular basis, it is amazing how much crap gets into the system.

I just got back from riding, I just got a warning from the GSP for a 69 in a 45, which was a construction zone. I got lucky. Anyway, it was acting up today pretty bad, I checked the breather lines and they are fine, cleaned the air filter. Still doing it. Not sure what is causeing it.....

i took mine in to the doc and they said my power commander mapping was off and the spark plugs were **** cuz it was running too rich. the guy i bought it from must not have known to re map it. when it got it back they had messed it up worse. the spedo is way off. it jumps from 30 to 0 and anywhere in between. it reads the correct speed only in neutral. now they are looking over it for a wiring problem. i want it back they have had it for 2 weeks!!!!

I am trying to find this recall info online and I cant find it. Where did you find it at?? That could be what is causing the problem.
