I was just wondering what kind of oil everyone uses.
I use yamalube 20W40 but was thinking of switching to a full synthetic.
What do you guys think?

the yamaha dealer told me that silkolene is pretty good stuff, and if I were to go synthetic, thats what he would recomend.

Myself and three friends all have R6's and we all run Mobile 1 Full Synthetic 10w-30.

How often are you guys changing it out? Are you pushing it to annually or still doing the "every 6 months"?
3 of us change ours religiously every 3000 miles and the fourth has only changed his twice with a bike at 12,000 miles cuz he's a slacker. His doesn't have any problems either though.

I use Mobil 1 full syn in anything I drive.
I would change my 3000 miles or less, if you drive hard I would do it every 2500. Better be safe than sorry.
everybody who knows anything knows damn well that spectro 4 is the best motorcycle oil on the face of the planet so get it sucka...15-40 is what i run and my shifts are smooth and gears mesh perfect all the time

Mobile 1? Is it wet clutch compliant? I don't think it is. . .might want to check that out.
I run Red Line 10w40 and change it every 1500. and change the filter over 3000. (K&N)

I've been running Mobil 1 Red Cap 15w-50 in mine for awhile now, no problems, buy the one that doesn't have the energy conservation label on the back, it is the one that doesn't have all of the wrong additives. 3 other friends of mine are running it to , no problems from them either.

Yamalube here...the dealer can't blame any service issues on the oil if it's the one they recomend.

I agree with dyezak, Yamalube's the way to go.

Yamalube! every 1500 for oil, and 3k for oil/filter.. I don't really pay for it so i'm not worried.. I won't go synthetic.. as much as I'd like to. I'd hate to run into trouble and only be able to find regular oil..

definatly stick w/yamalube full synthetic will take some life away from your clutch.

If you want to use standard oil Yamalube is the way to go. But if you dead set on synth try AMSOIL. It smooths clunky transmissions and it couldn't hurt that they sponsor a bunch of off road MX kind of stuff. (not that my r6 clunks I used it in my '01 929RR)

I'm using Amsoil full syn. 10w40. So far so good. Think it even sounds better if that means anything.
I use Mobil 1 for sport bikes. The stuff is expensive but I only put enough mile on the thing for one oil change a year. I do use a factory filter.
