Anyone mod the seat? Went on a one day 560 mi ride and my booty was killin'! But, Im not flat foot touching the ground, so I am scared to mod the seat for a more kooshy ride.

If you want a hard seat ride a RC51...those things are ruthless. If the 6's seat is too hard for you look up "Corbin"...they'll have something to cure it.

I was at one of the spots where all the bikers hang out here in co and some dude had a totally stock GSXR with a $3000 custom alligator skin seat made by WCC (i think thats who he said made it) I was like wtf dude for 3k u could have done some awsome performance mods to that bike.

Why did you NOT smack that guy in the grape, take his seat and give him a pipe!

I would recomend looking for a local shop that does upholstory or however you spell it, but you can give the seat to them and they usally can put some new stuff on and under it so make it much nicer, i know someone who did their car all leather for 1000, and that was 2 captians chairs and an entire bench seat....and it was custom embroyered, so be ready to part with a couple bills but its not that bad

I have a 02 R6 and I also had problems with weight on my wrists. I was able to determine what the problem was and correct it. I am 5'10, 180lbs and when I sit on my bike I tend to fall forward because of the seat height. I corrected this problem by removing about 2" of foam padding from the seat. This has enabled me to "sink" into the bike and take the pressure of my wrists and hands. Now my arms hang naturally without any stiffness....And the seat is still comfortable!!

here is a simple solution to your seat mayhem as well, you could take your bike to the shop and get it lowered an inch or two then just add and inch or two of padding. that way your still even...i know out here in california bike lowering is very regular for the show bikes....i have also seen a couple of daily drivers lowered as well...

I would disagree with phat_r6

Lowering your bike and makeing up the difference in padding will get you the same seat height. However it'll throw your steering geometry out the window. You'll have a really comfortable La-z-boy to ride in a straight line with, but forget about carving.
Staying on the cheap you could check places like "motorcycle accesories warehouse" they supplemental pads and lamb skin jobbies that attach with a few stretch straps. Or you could go with a Corbin seat, they are very nice. Or if you're home-ec inclined, pull the staples out that hold the seat cover on and add a few layers of padding from Joann Fabrics or a similar craft store and then staple everything back together.

This may sound a little bit odd to some of you, but aside from motorcycles I am a triathlete, and race bikes in that sport have very hard seats......so to counter that, you buy very nice bike shorts.....on my long motorcycle rides, I were my bike shorts instead of underwear under my jeans. Trust me they are a lot more comfortable on those long rides. You can get a nice pair of shorts from your local bike shop....I recommend Trek products. Try it, it works.
