what kind of air filter should I use ive heard bad things about a power loss from k&n? is that true? i have an 04 fuel injected and i dunno what I should expect. is a BMC a better choice? I know that they are the only legal air filter for AMA race. any info could help.

On the R6 the design of the K&N actually does NOT flow as much air as a STOCK air filter. The only air filter that out flows the stock air filter is the BMC Race filter, as it is a total redesign of the filter shape and layout.

in that case just leaving it stock will be fine. The gyt-r velocity stacks will be a much better fit for the air box then... :)

Aftermarket Vstacks allow the air a smooth exit out of the airbox. The stock Vstacks are tall and make the air work to get down the 4 holes. I have figured out how to modify the stock Vstacks so they are similar to aftermarket Vstacks. The cost is nothing. Check out my how-to with pics at http://www.HighBimmin.com/Install/Vstacks.htm
